Abstract

Léon: The Profesional merupakan film yang mengisahkan pembunuh bayaran (hitman) bernama Léon yang bersahabat dengan gadis broken home bernama Mathilda. Perilaku Léon banyak memperlihatkan sikap humanis yang juga diajarkannya pada Mathilda. Untuk itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaknai nilai-nilai humanis seorang pembunuh bayaran yang direpresentasikan dalam film Léon: The Professional. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis isi. Sumber data primer berupa 12 adegan yang menggambarkan nilai-nilai humanis tokoh Léon sebagai pembunuh bayaran. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi dokumentasi dan studi literatur. Objek penelitian ini yakni representasi nilai-nilai humanis seorang pembunuh bayaran dalam film Léon: The Professional. Keabsahan data melalui teknik triangulasi metode. Analisis data dilakukan melalui semiotika Barthes yang terdiri atas upaya pemaknaan denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Léon sebagai pembunuh bayaran yang memiliki perasaan dan kepekaan pada lingkungan sekitar selayaknya nilai-nilai kebaikan seperti merawat tanaman hingga mengajarkan sopan santun pada Mathilda. Léon merupakan antitesis dari gambaran pembunuh bayaran yang sering ditereotipkan secara bengis, tidak kenal ampun, kejam atau pun kasar karena Léon justru menunjukan kehangatan sikap dan perasaan pada orang-orang sekitarnya. / Léon: The Professional tells the story of Léon who works as a hitman who has emotional closeness to the little girl named Mathilda. The image of Léon as a hitman with humanist values then poured into a picture of the objects on the scene, where all the objects in semiotics are interpreted as signs that can be interpreted. For this reason, this study aims to interpret the humanist values of hitman in Léon: The Professional. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach and semiotic analysis method. Primary data are 12 scenes depicting humanist values of Léon as a hitman. Data collection techniques through documentation studies and literature studies. The object of this study is the representation of the humanist values of hitman in Léon: The Professional. The validity of data through triangulation of method. Data analysis was carried out through Barthes' semiotics approach consisting of denotation, connotation, and myths. The results showed that Leon as a hitman who has feelings and sensitivity to the surrounding environment should be the values of kindness such as caring for plants to teach Mathilda some manner. Léon is the antithesis of the image of a hitman who is often stereotyped cruelly, unforgiving, cruel or even rude because Léon actually shows the warmth of attitudes and feelings to those around him.
