Abstract

Today, the value of workforce diversity has been considerate by many organizations as a key business as it contributes to creative innovations, broad perspective, and better problem solving. When it is properly managed, workforce diversity can be one of the major sources of competitive advantage. In this paper, workforce diversity is measured by gender diversity, age diversity, ethnic diversity, educational background and nationality, whereas, employees’ performance is measured by quality, timeliness, cost-effectiveness, need for supervision and interpersonal impact. The method used in this research are quantitative research, distributing questionnaire and preliminary interview. The research took 36 people from PT Musim Mas, Medan as the sample by using regression analysis method by SPSS. The data of this research was analyzed by using validity test, reliability test, normality test, linearity test, heteroscedasticity test, linear regression analysis, determination test and hypothesis test (z-test). The validity test and reliability test show that all the data are valid and reliable. The result of normality and linearity test show that the variables are normally distributed and the relationships between both variables are linear. The data has also passed the heteroscedasticity test. The linear regression result shows that when there is an increase in variable x, then variable y will increase by 0.896. The result of determination test shows that variable X influence variable Y by 78.6%, while hypothesis developed that workforce diversity has influence on employees’ performance at PT Musim Mas, Medan. Workforce diversity is not the only factor that influence employees’ performance, there are other factor that have influence on employees’ performance which are not included in this research, one of which is motivation. / Pada jaman ini, nilai keberagaman tenaga kerja telah dipertimbangkan oleh banyak organisasi sebagai kunci utama di dalam menjalankan bisnis karena berkontribusi pada inovasi kreatif, sudut pandang luas, dan pemecahan masalah yang lebih baik. Ketika dikelola dengan benar, keberagaman tenaga kerja dapat menjadi salah satu sumber utama keunggulan kompetitif. Pada skripsi ini, keberagaman tenaga kerja diukur dengan keberagaman jenis kelamin, keberagaman usia, keberagaman etnis, latar belakang pendidikan dan kewarganegaraan, sedangkan kinerja bisnis diukur oleh kualitas, ketepatan waktu, efektivitas biaya, kebutuhan untuk pengawasan dan dampak interpersonal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif, penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara pendahuluan. Penelitian ini mengambil 36 orang dari PT Musim Mas, Medan sebagai sampel dengan menggunakan metode analisis regresi oleh SPSS. Data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, uji linieritas, uji heteroskedastisitas, analisis regresi linier, uji determinasi, dan uji hipotesis (uji-z). Uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas menunjukkan bahwa semua data valid dan dapat diandalkan. Hasil uji normalitas dan linieritas menunjukkan bahwa variabel terdistribusi normal dan hubungan kedua variabel bersifat linier. Data juga telah lulus uji heteroskedastisitas. Hasil regresi linier menunjukkan bahwa ketika ada peningkatan variabel x, maka variabel y akan meningkat sebesar 0,896. Hasil uji determinasi menunjukkan bahwa variabel X memengaruhi variabel Y sebesar 78,6%, sedangkan hipotesis dikembangkan bahwa keberagaman tenaga kerja memiliki pengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT Musim Mas, Medan. Keragaman tenaga kerja bukan satu-satunya faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan, ada faktor lain yang berpengaruh pada kinerja karyawan yang tidak termasuk dalam penelitian ini, salah satunya adalah motivasi.
