Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki berbagai macam suku dan budaya, namun seiring berjalannya waktu berbagai macam kebudayaan mulai perlahan pudar dan menghilang. Namun tidak sedikit juga budaya yang masih terjaga kelestariannya hingga saat ini. Salah satu contohnya adalah budaya pernikahan Chio Thau, atau yang biasa dikaitkan kepada masyarakat Cina Benteng. Ini merupakan budaya Tionghua yang hingga saat ini masih bisa kita rasakan. Banyak makna yang terkandung dalam setiap proses acara pernikahan budaya Chio Thau. Maka penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjabarkan makna ritual dari proses pernikahan Chio Thau, serta bagaimana masyarakat Cina Benteng dapat mempertahankan nilai-nilai yang ada didalam adat pernikahan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian eksploratif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bagaimana Interaksi Simbolik yang terjadi di pernikahan adat Chio Thau. / Indonesia is a country that has a variety of tribes and cultures, but over time various cultures began to slowly fade and disappear. But not a few cultures that are still preserved until now. One example is the culture of Chio Thau marriage, or commonly associated with Benteng Chinese society. This is a Chinese culture that we can still feel. Many meanings are contained in every process of Chio Thau's cultural wedding. So this research was conducted to describe the ritual meaning of the Chio Thau marriage process, as well as how the Benteng Chinese community can maintain the values contained in the custom of marriage. This research uses a qualitative approach with explorative research methods. The results of this study show how the Symbolic Interactions that occur at Chio Thau traditional marriages.
