Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitaif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecerdasan linguistik dan motivasi membaca pada kompetensi membaca teks bahasa Inggris siswa kelas X Akuntansi di SMK Bunda Mulia. Responden penelitian ini berjumlah 37 orang. Tiga instrumen yang digunakan adalah satu tes untuk reading komprehension, satu tes untuk kecerdasan linguistik, dan satu kuesioner untuk motivasi membaca. Penelitian ini menggunakan statistik inferensial sebagai teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan alat bantu statistik SPSS 25. Hasil analisis membuktikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh kecerdasan linguistik pada kompetensi membaca teks bahasa Inggris dengan nilai R^2= .33. Namun temuan kedua dengan nilai F-change= 0.90 menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh motivai membaca pada kompetensi membaca teks bahasa Inggris siswa kelas X Akuntansi SMK Bunda Mulia Jakarta Pusat. / This research applies a quantitative approach with the aim of examining the effect of linguistic intelligence and reading motivation on 10th-grade accounting students’ reading comprehension at SMK Bunda Mulia. There are 37 respondents in this research. Three instruments administered to the students are reading comprehension test, linguistic intelligence test, and reading motivation questionnaire. Inferential statistics was employed as data analysis technique using statistical tool SPSS 25. The finding of this research indicate that there is an effect of linguistic intelligence on students’ reading comprehension with value of R^2= .33. However, the other finding with value of F-change = 0.90 suggests that there is no effect of reading motivation on 10th-grade accounting students’ reading comprehension at SMK Bunda Mulia.
