Abstract

Skripsi, merupakan salah satu proses yang harus dilalui oleh semua mahasiswa Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan untuk menyelesaikan proses perkuliahan. Dalam mengerjakan skripsi, tentunya mahasiswa diharuskan untuk mendapatkan bimbingan dari satu dosen pembimbing untuk membantu memberikan kritik dan saran dalam pengerjaan skripsi. Di Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan, proses komunikasi bimbingan skripsi masih bervariasi. Ada dosen yang mengadakan bimbingan skripsi secara tatap muka langsung, dan ada juga yang mengadakan bimbingan secara online misalnya dengan email atau menggunakan room chat untuk memberikan informasi kepada mahasiswa bimbingan. Oleh karena tidak ada sistem yang memantau proses perkembangan skripsi, terkadang didapati mahasiswa yang sangat jarang mengikuti bimbingan skripsi dan lambat pengerjaannya. Dari permasalahan diatas inilah maka muncul ide untuk membangun sistem informasi monitoring bimbingan skripsi secara online untuk Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan. Dari hasil penelitian, maka dihasilkan sebuah sistem yang diharapkan bisa membantu Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan. Terutama dalam melakukan pemantauan perkembangan skripsi mahasiswa. Khususnya untuk Fakultas Ilmu Komputer. / Thesis, one of the processes that must be passed by all of Pelita Harapan Medan Campus students to complete all lecture process. In doing thesis, of course all students are required to get guidance from a supervisor (“Dosen Pembimbing”) to help provide suggestion in doing a thesis. At Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan, the process of comunication used in thesis guidance, also different between one lecturer and others.There are some lecturers who provide thesis guidance directly face to face, and there are also some lecturers using online method to communicate with students. For example, email or room chat. Because there is no system to monitor the process of thesis guidance, some student will lazy to do their thesis. From this problems, an idea imerged to build a system called “Sistem Monitoring Bimbingan Skripsi”. From this study, a system that is expected to help Pelita Harapan University was created. The main function especially in monitoring the progress of student’s thesis. Especially for the faculty of computer science.
