Abstract
Teachers are encouraged to show proactive work behavior (PWB) in their involvement throughout daily organizational activities; and it is reflected in their job performance through courage to give opinions, individual innovation, proactively taking charge and problem solving. Several factors are considered to have a positive influence on PWB; therefore, this study was conducted towards the Pah Tsung School teacher population in order to examine the influence of authentic leadership on PWB with work engagement as mediating variable and job satisfaction as moderating variable. This study used a quantitative method in which the data obtained through questionnaires from 63 participants was processed with SmartPLS. The data analysis result concluded that there was no positive influence of authentic leadership on PWB. It also revealed that job satisfaction did not moderate the relationship between authentic leadership and PWB, yet it moderated the relationship between work engagement and PWB. The result showed that there was a positive influence of authentic leadership on work engagement and also work engagement on PWB. Likewise, work engagement was considered to be able to mediate the influence of authentic leadership on PWB.
