Abstract

Design and technology of boat manufacturing is a part of the major research of Civil Engineering Department of the Pelita Harapan University titled: The Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) application for manufacturing boats and floating structures with Dualcoque Technology. In this reserarch, the weakness of previous boat prototype was improved and was given addition to be more effective. Design of prototype II was improved and added in term of size, shape, capacity, and the use of engine. Design of prototype boat II has been completed, continued with the cutting process and installation EPS boat frame. During the planning phase, the bolt and polynet setting that aimed to unite old and new concrete bond were determined. After planning, appliances and materials were prepared to undertake mix design. The outcome of mix design was used to produce boat layer and pasted in EPS structure. Afterwards, boat layer had curing maintenance and meanwhile design for coloring and lettering of the boat was undergone so the finishing process can be done in order to test the stability and the tilt of the boat with or without using the engine. The result showed that UHPC boat with EPS structure was stable with or without the engine in various inclinations and can be operated on water with bigger passenger capacity. Moreover, the engine that was used in boat prototype II was suitable for its use. The research result was expected to produce UHPC boat with EPS structure that has greater Buoyancy, effective and efficient in boat displacement in various locations and economical.
