Abstract

This study is aimed to examine and analyse the effect of transformational leadership towards job satisfaction and turnover intention on XYZ elementary school in East Jakarta area. The populations of the study were all the teachers in XYZ elementary school in East Jakarta. The sampling was saturated of 36 respondents. The research methodology used path analysis by quantitative approach and SmartPLS software. The result of the research showed that transformational leadership has negative effect towards turnover intention. Whereas, the transformational leadership has positive effect towards the job satisfaction. The third hypothesis was not supported, that was, the effect of teachers satisfaction towards turnover intention. It was assumed that the minimal data causing of the unsupported, beside that the inconsistency or dishonest respondents in fulfilling the questioners affected the differences result to the hypothesis. The principal is hoped to improve their transformational leadership in order to increase teachers satisfaction that will lead to the decreasing of turnover intention. For the further study, it is suggested to research not only the teachers as the populations but also the administration staffs, school operator and the school janitors. / Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh transformational leadership terhadap kepuasan kerja dan turnover intention pada guru SD XYZ di Jakarta Timur. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh guru SD XYZ di Jakarta Timur. Sampel pada penelitian ini merupakan sampel jenuh, yaitu seluruh populasi SD XYZ sebanyak 36 responden. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis jalur dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan software SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan transformational leadership berpengaruh negatif terhadap turnover intention guru, sedangkan transformational leadership berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan kerja. Hipotesis ketiga tidak didukung, yaitu pengaruh kepuasan guru terhadap turnover intention. Diduga data yang minim menjadi penyebabnya selain itu responden yang tidak konsisten atau tidak jujur dalam pengisian kuesioner, sehingga menimbulkan perbedaan hasil dengan hipotesis. Kepala sekolah diharapkan terus mengembangkan gaya transformational leadership agar dapat meningkatkan kepuasan guru yang nantinya berdampak pada menurunnya turnover intention. Untuk penelitian selanjutnya disarankan bukan hanya meneliti populasi guru, namun juga tenaga kependidikan, yaitu operator dan penjaga sekolah.
