Abstract
Character education for early childhood is a way to improve the quality of human resources. By instilling good character in early childhood, will improve the quality of the next generation. The character of independence and environmental care are two important characters to improve the quality of Indonesian people. The Montessori Method with practical life activities provides training to instill the character of independence and environmental care in children. This study aims to evaluate the practical life activities of Montessori in instilling the character of independence and environmental care in Pre-K-A children in Kinderworld Montessori Preschool BSD Academic Year 2019/2020. This research is a formative evaluation research conducted in the middle of the program and after the children carry out practical life activities for 3 months. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and questionnaires. Data validity was tested using triangulation techniques and the Pearson product moment formula. Data analysis was performed using the CIPP evaluation model (context, input, process, product) by Daniel Stufflebeam, also equipped with descriptive statistics for the questionnaire data. The results showed as many as 55.56% of Pre K-A children were at a good level for the character of independence and environmental care. Based on the results of the study concluded that practical life learning supports the development of children's independence and concern for the environment. Habituation in daily activities by parents makes the attitude of independence and environmental care of children embedded more strongly into the character of children. / Pendidikan karakter untuk anak usia dini adalah salah satu jalan untuk memperbaiki kualitas sumber daya manusia. Dengan menanamkan karakter baik pada anak usia dini, diharapkan akan meningkatkan kualitas generasi penerus. Karakter kemandirian dan peduli lingkungan adalah dua karakter penting untuk memperbaiki kualitas manusia Indonesia. Metode Montessori dengan kegiatan practical life memberikan pelatihan untuk menanamkan karakter kemandirian dan peduli lingkungan pada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kegiatan practical life Montessori dalam menanamkan karakter kemandirian dan kepedulian lingkungan pada anak Pre K-A di Kinderworld Montessori Preschool BSD Tahun Pelajaran 2019/2020. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian evaluasi formatif yang dilakukan di tengah program dan setelah anak melakukan kegiatan practical life selama 3 bulan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan kuesioner. Keabsahan data diuji menggunakan teknik triangulasi dan rumus Pearson product moment. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model evaluasi CIPP (context, input, process, product) oleh Daniel Stufflebeam, juga dilengkapi dengan deskriptif statitik untuk data kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebanyak 55.56% anak Pre K-A berada di tingkat baik untuk karakter kemandirian dan kepedulian lingkungan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran practical life mendukung perkembangan kemandirian dan kepedulian anak terhadap lingkungan. Pembiasaan dalam kegiatan sehari-hari oleh orangtua menjadikan sikap kemandirian dan kepedulian lingkungan anak tertanam lebih kuat menjadi karakter anak.
