Abstract

Stroke is known to be the second deadliest disease in the world. According to the Riset Kesehatan Dasar (RISKESDAS), there are around 10,9 ‰ stroke survivor in Indonesia by 2018. Depression is present as one of the complications in Ischemic Stroke patient. Depression occurs in one-third of stroke patients (Post Stroke Depression). Site of lesion in stroke has been associated to the degree of depression. However some studies suggest otherwise, thus requiring further clarifications. To investigate the relationship between site of lesion to the degree of depression Ischemic Stroke Patient in Siloam General Hospitals Karawaci. This Cross-sectional study is conducted in Siloam Hospitals Karawaci. This study collect data from January until March 2020. Sample for this study are Ischemic Stroke patients in Siloam Hospitals Karawaci. Data are collected using the Beck’s Depression Inventory II (BDI-II) to record the degree of depression and site of lesion will be based on radiological imaging interpretation. The result is then analyzed with Chi Square using SPSS version 25 software. Out of the 62 patient with ischemic stroke, There are 27 (43,5%) subject with the site of lesion in the frontal lobe, 23(37,1%) in the Temporal Lobe, 9(14,5%) in the Parietal Lobe , dan 3 (4,9%)in the Occipital Lobe. There are 35 (56,4%) subjects with minimal depression, 22 (35,5%) with mild depression and 5 (8,1%) had moderate depression. Significant association is found between site of lesion and the degree of depression (OR = 5,368, p-value = 0,013). Lesion in the Frontal lobe shows the most associated with the degree of depression.
