Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the quality of learning carried out by teachers from non-educational backgrounds and who have not obtained professional teacher certification. The focus of research on teacher understanding and competence in carrying out the learning process, self-efficacy and the efforts made by these teachers when facing problems in learning. This research is a case study, using structured and scheduled interview data collection techniques conducted online with six informants who are teachers with non-educational backgrounds at XYZ private schools. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques and then linked to relevant theories. The conclusion obtained is that teachers without an educational background are able to carry out learning quite well. This phenomena seems influenced by self-efficacy factor which directs and encourages their efforts to seek information from various sources, and participate in training and self-development programs to improve their teaching knowledge and competence. / Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kualitas pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan oleh guru berlatar belakang non-kependidikan dan belum memperoleh sertifikasi guru profesional. Fokus penelitian pemahaman dan kompetensi guru dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran, efikasi diri serta usaha yang dilakukan oleh para guru tersebut ketika menghadapi masalah dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus, menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara terstruktur dan terjadwal yang dilakukan secara secara online terhadap enam informan yang merupakan guru berlatar belakang non kependidikan di Sekolah swasta XYZ. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik thematic analysis dan kemudian dikaitkan dengan teori-teori yang relevan. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah bahwa guru tanpa latar belakang kependidikan ternyata mampu melaksanakan pembelajaran dengan cukup baik, hal tersebut tidak terlepas dari faktor efikasi diri dan usaha mereka untuk mencari informasi dari berbagai sumber serta mengikuti berbagai pelatihan dan program pengembangan diri yang berkaitan dengan peningkatan kompetensi guru
