Abstract

Latar belakang: Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran memiliki tingkat stres yang lebih tinggi dibanding dengan mahasiswa program studi lainnya. Memelihara hewan menjadi salah satu jalan bagi mahasiswa untuk mengatasi hal tersebut. Banyak penelitian yang sudah dilakukan sebelumnya namun masih menunjukkan ketidaksesuaian hasil maka perlu dilakukan penelitian kembali. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara memelihara hewan dan tingkat stres pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UPH. Metodologi: Penelitian ini menggunakan studi analitik dengan desain potong-lintang. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara pengisian kuesioner oleh responden. Penelitian melibatkan 122 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UPH. Data diolah dengan tes Chi-square menggunakan SPSS 25. Hasil: Dari uji Chi-square diperoleh nilai p sebesar 0,056 (p > 0,05) dan nilai OR sebesar 0,440 (95% CI: 0,203 – 0,953). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara memelihara hewan dan tingkat stres pada mahasiswa FK UPH. / Background: Medical students have higher level of stress compared to students from other faculties due to enormous study load. Owning a pet is one of the ways to ease stress. A lot of research has been done before but it still shows a mismatch of results, so more study in this particular topic is needed. Aim: The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between pet ownership and stress levels in medical students of Pelita Harapan University. Methodology: This study is an analytical study with a cross-sectional study design. Data was collected using questionnaires. This study has 122 respondents who are the students of the UPH Medical Faculty. Data was processed by Chi-square test using SPSS 25. Result: The Chi-square test yielded a result with a p-value of 0.056 (p > 0.05) and OR value of 0.440 (95% CI: 0.203 - 0.953). Conclusion: There is no relationship between pet ownership and stress levels in medical students of Pelita Harapan University
