Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengeksplorasi pemaknaan individu mengenai perjalanan pendakian yang dilakukan di gunung Semeru yang akan dibahas dengan teori sensation seeking. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan tipe fenomenologi dan menggunakan metode wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview). Paradigma dalam penelitian ini adalah paradigma interpretif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sensation seeking dimunculkan melalui aspek-aspek dari sensation seeking yang meliputi thrill & adventure seeking, experience seeking, disinhibition, dan boredom susceptibility. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa aspek yang paling sering dimunculkan oleh para partisipan adalah thrill & adventure seeking dan experience seeking. Hal ini dikarenakan bahwa pendakian gunung Semeru adalah sebuah pengalaman yang baru bagi para partisipan dan mereka mendapatkan kesenangan dari proses perjalanan pendakian gunung Semeru yang beresiko. Tema-tema yang menggambarkan aspek-aspek tersebut diantara lain adalah; siap sedia jangan tergesa-gesa, menembus bahaya pendakian, perasaan yang membendung di dalam mulut dan penyembuh kebosanan. Hasil penelitian ini selanjutnya dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memberikan motivasi dan edukasi bagi para pendaki pemula dan partisipan untuk tetap melakukan aktivitas pendakian dengan persiapan yang matang serta melihat banyak manfaat positif yang dihasilkan dari aktivitas pendakian / This research has a purpose to acknowledge and to explore an individual comprehension about a climbing trip that is taken place on Mount Semeru which will be discussed latter in the sensation seeking theory. The approaching used in this research is qualitative with phenomenology type and using in-depth interview method. The paradigm in this research is interpretive paradigm. The results of this research show that the sensation seeking has been brought up through the aspects of sensation seeking that consist of thrill and adventure seeking, experience seeking, disinhibition, and boredom susceptibility. The results of this research show that the aspects that are oftenly brought up by the subjects are thrill and adventure seeking and experience seeking. These are caused by that the climbing of Mount Semeru is kind of a new experience for the subjects, and they get such of excitement from the climbing process of Mount Semeru that is full of risk. Themes that describe the aspects are ready but not in a hurry, through go the dangerous of hiking, feelings that stem in mouth and booring killer. The results of this research will then be able to be utilized to give motivation and education for the beginner climbers and subjects to remain doing some climbing activities with best preparation and see many positive benefits that are brought up from the climbing activities.
