Abstract
Menjalin hubungan baik dengan warga di lingkungan sekitar adalah hal
penting bagi sebuah perusahaan terutama yang bergerak dalam bidang industri
pengolahan. Salah satu perusahaan industri pengolahan yang dapat berdampak
negatif terhadap lingkungan adalah PT. Hevea Muara Kelingi, yaitu perusahaan
yang mengolah bahan baku karet menjadi barang setengah jadi. Untuk
mengantisipasi konsekuensi dari pembuangan limbah karet tersebut maka
perusahaan melakukan community relations sebagai salah satu strategi untuk
menjalin hubungan baik dengan warga sekitar.
Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: Bagaimana strategi
community relations yang dijalankan PT. Hevea Muara Kelingi di desa Gandus
Palembang?. Metode yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam dengan
pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan community relations
yang dijalankan oleh PT. Hevea Muara Kelingi sesuai dengan model R-A-C-E,
dan strateginya meliputi program filantropi, penerimaan tenaga kerja lokal, kajian
dampak sosial, dan konsultasi komunitas. Peneliti menyarankan agar sebaiknya
dalam menjalankan program community relations, perusahaan memberikan bekal
lebih untuk kemajuan hidup masyarakat dalam arti lebih mengasah dan
menambah pengetahuan mereka mengenai hal-hal baru. / Building a good relationship with the surrounding community is important
to a company, especially in the manufacturing industry, including PT. Hevea
Muara Kelingi, a company that processes raw materials of rubber into semi
finishing goods, and thus may have negative impacts on the environment. To
ancipate the consequences of the rubber waste, the company conducts community
relations as strategies to keep a good relationship with the community.
The research question in this study is: How does PT. Hevea Muara Kelingi
conduct its community relations strategy at Gandus Palembang?. The research
method used is in-depth interview with qualitative descriptive approach.
Results show that the implementation of the community relations strategy
of PT. Hevea Muara Kelingi is in accordance with the R-A-C-E model, and the
strategies include philanthropy, employee recruitment, social impact assessment,
and community consultations. The researcher suggests that when implementing a
community relations program, a company should give more knowledge to the
community relations to enhance the community’s.
