Abstract

Ryff (1989) mendefinisikan kesejahteraan psikologis sebagai kondisi mental yang dianggap sehat dan berfungsi maksimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi secara terperinci mengenai bagaimana single mother menjalani kehidupannya hingga mampu mencapai keadaan well being secara psikologis. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah dua orang single mother yang masing-masing berusia 47 tahun dan 55 tahun, serta masing-masing satu orang significant other dari subjek Pendekatan pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara dan dianalisis secara tematik untuk mengintegrasikan beberapa tema yang muncul saat proses pengumpulan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kedua single mother yang menjadi subjek penelitian telah berada pada kondisi well-being secara psikologis. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan kemunculan dimensi-dimensi well-being dalam beberapa tema seperti “The Power of Single Mother”, “Aku Tak Sendiri”,“Kesempatan dalam Kesulitan”, “Potensiku adalah Modalku untuk Bangkit”, “Perjuangan Demi Buah Hati”, “Wanita Kuat, Itu Aku” / Ryff (1989) defines psychological well-being as a mental state which is healthy and able to function well. The purpose of this study is to explore in detail how a single mother lives her life until she is able to reach a psychological state of well being. The subjects in this study are two single mothers, respectively 47 years and 55 years, and a significant other of each subject. The approach used in this study is qualitative technique with a case study design. The data was collected by interviewing and analyzed thematically to integrate several themes that emerged during the data collection process. The results of this study concluded that the two single mothers who were the research subjects were in a condition of psychological wellbeing. This is indicated by the emergence of wellbeing dimensions in several themes such as "The Power of Single Mother", "I Am Not Alone", "Opportunity in Troubles", "My Potential is My Asset to Rise Up", "A Fight for Kids", "A strong Woman, That's Me".
