Abstract

Unemployment rate in Indonesia has increased rapidly in recent years. This phenomena happens because of limited job opportunities. In order to solve this problem, one has to be a job creator or an entrepreneur. One of the factors that may influence someone’s decision to be an entrepreneur is self-efficacy. It is a personal assessment or belief about how well the person can take the necessary action to relate to a prospective situation. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of self-efficacy towards entrepreneurial intention at Pelita Harapan University Medan. The results of the data analysis are obtained in the form of quantitative analysis. Data analysis technique used is the simple linear regression analysis by using SPSS 16. The data that has fulfilled validity test, reliability test, correlation coefficient and determination test, and regression test are processed so as to produce regression equation as follows: Y = 30.104 + 0.953X The conclusion of this research is self-efficacy does have significant effect to entrepreneurial intention in Pelita Harapan University Medan. Based on the hypothesis testing obtained, the value of zcount = is greater than ztable = 1.96, which proves that self-efficacy has a positive and significant relationship to entrepreneurial intention at Pelita Harapan Medan.
