Abstract

Banyak mahasiswa merantau ke luar kota/ negeri untuk mendapatkan pendidikan dan mereka dituntut untuk menyesuaikan diri. Namun mahasiswa lebih rentan mengalami gangguan mental karena sedang dalam proses perkembangan menuju dewasa. Prevalensi gangguan mental emosional dengan gejala ansietas dan depresi di Indonesia telah meningkat dari 6% (2013) menjadi 9,8% (2018). Jumlah penelitian terkait hal tersebut di Indonesia masih terbatas, maka dari itu penelitian ini perlu untuk dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status merantau dengan ansietas pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode potong lintang pada 138 mahasiswa/i tingkat pertama Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling. Pengambilan data pada bulan Januari-Maret 2020 menggunakan kuesioner demografik dan DASS-42. Data penelitian diolah dengan program SPSS 25.0 dan uji statistik Chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa responden yang merantau dan tidak merantau yaitu 95 orang (68,8%) dan 43 orang (31,2%). Sebanyak 91 orang (65,9%) tergolong normal dan 47 orang (34,1%) memiliki ansietas (ringan, sedang, berat, dan sangat berat). Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara status merantau dengan kejadian ansietas dengan nilai p = 0,046, OR= 2,519. Sebagai kesimpulan, status merantau merupakan faktor risiko ansietas pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan./ Many students move to another city/ country to pursue higher level of education and they must be able to adapt. Students in the transition period between childhood to adolescent are more prone to mental health problems. The prevalence of emotional mental health problems related to anxiety and depression in Indonesia have increased from 6% (2013) to 9.8% (2018). In Indonesia, researches related to anxiety due to migration is still limited, therefore this research is needed to know the relationship between temporary migration and anxiety in university students. It is a cross-sectional study of 138 first-year medical students of Pelita Harapan University who were chosen using purposive sampling. Data were collected using demographic questionnaire and DASS-42 on January-March 2020. Results were analysed with Chi-square using SPSS 25.0. There are 95 people (68.8%) who migrate and 43 people (31.2%) who don’t. There are 91 people (65.9%) who have normal anxiety scale while 47 people (34.1%) have anxiety ranging from mild, moderate, severe, to very severe. There is a significant relationship between temporary migration and anxiety with p-value = 0.046, OR = 2.519. In conclusion, temporary migration is the risk factor of anxiety in medical students of Pelita Harapan University.
