Abstract

The background of this research is because many people in Indonesia think that being a government employee (PNS) can guarantee the welfare and survival, so they want to become government employee. The educated youth should change the pattern of thinking and begin to entrepreneurship because of the tight competition to find jobs that waste energy. Instead of looking for job, the youth should be able to open occupation. This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of entrepreneurship education and knowledge towards the student interest to become entrepreneurs on faculty of economics and business Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan. The research method is descriptive and clausal. The data collection method uses primary data and secondary data that are used by spreading questionnaires and interviews to students of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan intake 2014, and 2015, and documentation study. The population in this study amounted to 587 people. According to Arikunto calculation of sample, the sample obtained is 88 and using simple random sampling technique. The data processing is using SPPS software, with descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing. The results showed that entrepreneurship education and knowledge have a positive and significant influence on the interest to become an entrepreneur in the students of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan.
