Latar Belakang : Penggunaan lensa kontak untuk mengatasi kelainan refraksi mata telah menjadi hal yang umum di era ini, bahkan nampaknya sudah menjadi bagian dari gaya hidup, misalnya dalam kebutuhan kosmetika. Disamping kepopulerannya, ternyata banyak pengguna lensa kontak yang mengalami keluhan, khususnya mata kering. Hal ini didukung oleh penelitian di Malaysia yang menyebutkan bahwa 73% pengguna lensa kontak mengalami sensasi mata kering. Salah satu pemeriksaan mata kering adalah dengan tes Schirmer. Tujuan Penelitian : Mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara durasi pemakaian lensa kontak terhadap nilai tes Schirmer pada mahasiswa preklinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metode Penelitian : Dilakukan secara cross-sectional dengan metode analitik korelatif. Sampel yang dibutuhkan adalah 42 sampel. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner dan tes Schirmer. Hasil Analisis Data : Data dari 43 sampel (86 mata) di uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil yang didapat ialah koefisien korelasi (r) -0.332, p-value 0.002 dan hubungan korelasi negatif. Simpulan : Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara durasi pemakaian lensa kontak dengan nilai tes Schirmer pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. // Background: The use of contact lenses to overcome eye refractive disorders have become common in this era, even seems to have become part of the lifestyle, for example in cosmetic needs. Despite its popularity, many contact lens users experience discomfort, especially dry eyes. This is supported by a research in Malaysia which states that 73% of contact lens users experience the sensation of dry eyes. One of dry eye examinations is the Schirmer test. Objective: To know whether there is a correlation between the duration of contact lens wear and Schirmer test result in preclinical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University. Methods: This research was conducted with a cross-sectional study design with the analytic correlative method. The sample needed is 42 samples. Data is collected by the questionnaire and the Schirmer test. Result : Data from 43 samples (86 eyes) were tested by the Spearman correlation test. The results obtained are the correlation coefficient (r) -0.332, p-value 0.002 and negative correlation. Conclusion : There is correlation between duration of contact lens wear and Schirmer test result in preclinical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University.
