Abstract

Latar belakang: Hanya terdapat sedikit penelitian mengenai hubungan antara stres dan gejala gastrointestinal yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara stres dan gejala gastrointestinal pada mahasiwa Fakultas kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metode Penelitian: desin penelitian menggunakan kasus control. Sampel kasus diambil dari mahasiswa yang mengalami gejala gasatrointestinal dan sampel control diambil dari mahasiswa yang mengalami stres di Universitas Pelita Harapan. Gejala gastrointestinal diukur menggunakan kuesioner GSRS dan stres diukur menggunakan keusioner PSS. Data diambil dari bulan Februari sampai Mei 2020 dan di analisis menggunakan IBM SPSS versi 25.00. Hasil: penelitan ini dilakukan pada 242 responden terdiri 120 (49%) laki-laki dan 122 (51%) perempuan. Rata-rata umur responden adalah 19 tahun antara 18-22 tahun. Prevalensi stres ditemukan sebesar 51.2% dan prevalensi gejala gastrointestinal sebesar 51.2%. Penelitian ini dianalisa menggunakan Chi Square test.Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara stres dan gejala gastrointestinal dengan P value 0.006 dan Odd Ratio 3.619 dengan 95% CI 1.376-8.871 menggunakan kuesioner GSRS. Simpulan: terdapat hubungan antara variabel stres dan variabel gejala gastrointestinal pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. / Background: There are only few studies regarding the relationship between psychological stress and gastrointestinal symptoms in Indonesia’s college student. The aim of this study is to know the relationship between psychological stress and gastrointestinal symptoms which were experienced by students from Pelita Harapan University. Method: the study design used were case control. Sample for the case is taken from students who have experienced gastrointestinal symptoms. The control was also taken from students who have experienced psychological stress. Gastrointestinal symptoms were measured using GSRS questionnaire and Psychological stress was measured with PSS questionnaire. Data was collected from February to May 2020 and analyzed using IBM SPSS version 25.00. Result: the study was conducted on 242 subjects, consisted of 120 (49%) Male and 122 (51%) Female. The mean age of the subject is 19 years old, range from 18-22 years old. The prevalence of stress was found 51.2% and the prevalence of gastrointestinal symptoms was found 51.2%. This study was analyzed using Chi Square test. A significant association between stress and gastrointestinal symptoms was found with p value 0.006 and Odd Ratio 3.619 with 95% CI 1.376-8.871 using GSRS questionnaire. Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between both stress variable and gastrointestinal symptoms variable in college students at Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University.
