Abstract
Latar Belakang: Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, media sosial sulit untuk dipisahkan dari kehidupan mahasiswa termasuk bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran. Berdasarkan data yang diambil oleh APJII (Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia), 92 persen pengguna internet merupakan mahasiswa dan 9,6 persen diantaranya yang menggunakan untuk mencari data terkait sekolah ataupun kuliah. Setiap hari, media sosial digunakan untuk berkomunikasi, bersosialisasi, hiburan, dan berbagi informasi. Informasi-informasi yang terdapat dalam media sosial dapat dimanfaatkan oleh mahasiswa untuk membantu dan meningkatkan performa akademik mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Terdapat berbagai faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi IPK mahasiswa seperti emosi, kognitif dan memori, motivasi, serta lingkungan belajar.
Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media sosial terhadap IPK serta mengetahui jenis media sosial yang digunakan untuk kegiatan pembelajaran oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan angkatan 2017 dan 2018.
Metode Penelitian : Desain penelitian dilaksanakan dalam bentuk studi potong lintang dengan metode pengambilan sampel non-random sampling yang diberikan kepada 156 responden mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian.
Hasil Analisis Data: Data diperoleh dari 163 responden yang telah mengisi kuisioner Social Networking Usage dan SONTUS. Data diproses menggunakan Microsoft Excel 2013 dan diolah menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis Test dengan software SPSS. Dari hasil penelitian, didapatkan hubungan yang tidak signifikan pada penggunaan media sosial sebagai sarana pembelajaran dengan IPK mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan angkatan 2017 dan 2018. / Background: In daily life, it was hard to separate social media from student life, including medical students. Based on data from APJII (Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia), 92 percent of internet users are students and 9,6 percent of them use social media to search for data related to school or college. Everyday, social media are used to communication, socialize, entertain, and share information with others. Informations that contained in social media can be used by medical students to help and improve their academic performance for learning process. There are various factors that can affect a student's GPA such as emotions, cognitive and memory, motivation, and the learning environment.
Objective: The aims of this study are to determine the effect of social media usage during medical student’s learning process toward GPA and to find out type of social media used for learning activities by medical students batch 2017 and 2018.
Methods: This study used cross sectional study with a non-random sampling method that will be given to 156 respondents of the medical students of Universitas Pelita Harapan that fulfilled the study criteria.
Result: Data were obtained from 163 samples using Social Networking Usage Questionairre and SONTUS. Data have been processed with Microsoft Excel 2013 and statistically tested using SPSS with Kruskal-Walis Test
