Abstract

Setiap manusia memiliki minat terhadap suatu bidang ilmu dan pekerjaan yang berbeda-beda. Menurut John L. Holland, psikolog asal Amerika, baik orang maupun lingkungan kerja dapat diklasifikasikan menurut enam tipe dasar, yaitu Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, dan Conventional (RIASEC). Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) melalui departemen Marketing, Communication, and Admission (MCA) telah menyediakan fasilitas pengujian minat bagi siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Atas. Saat ini, proses pemberian fasilitas pengujian masih dilakukan secara manual. Dengan jumlah calon pendaftar di UPH yang banyak dan tersebar di berbagai daerah, pemberian fasilitas pengujian minat ini masih memiliki beberapa hambatan. Oleh sebab itu, pembuatan tugas akhir ini berfokus kepada pengembangan aplikasi penunjang uji pemilihan program studi di Universitas Pelita Harapan dengan menggunakan metodologi Rapid Application Development yang dibangun menggunakan framework CodeIgniter MVC dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP. Pemodelan yang digunakan dalam pembangunan aplikasi ini adalah UML 2.5 dengan use case diagram, activity diagram, dan class diagram. Hasil akhir dari tugas akhir ini adalah aplikasi penunjang uji pemilihan program studi yang dapat memfasilitasi calon pendaftar UPH dengan pengujian minat untuk membantu memilih program studi yang akan diambil, serta memberikan fasilitas penyediaan laporan bagi departemen MCA UPH terkait dengan pemberian fasilitas uji pemilihan program studi. / Every person has their own interest in the field of study and career. John L. Holland, an American psychologist with his RIASEC Theory believes that both people and work environment can be classified according to six basic types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Enterprising, and Conventional (RIASEC). Pelita Harapan University (UPH) has been aware of the importance of interest recognition for prospective students to choose the right course of study in the university, as the study program in college is closely related to the field of career in the future. Therefore, the Marketing, Communication and Admission department has provided interest testing facility for high school students. Currently, the process of providing test facilities is still done manually. With a large number of applicants in UPH who are scattered in various regions, the provision of this interest testing facility still has several obstacles. With the existence of information technology, the whole process of interest testing activity can be run more efficiently, by developing an online based application that can support the activity, ranging from questions and formula making, report processing, to distributing the test which can be no longer limited by time and place. This final project is focusing on the development of application that can support the process of interest testing facility in UPH, by using Rapid Application Development method, which is built using CodeIgniter MVC framework and PHP programing language. The modeling used in the development of this application is UML 2.5 with class diagram, use case diagram, and activity diagram. This application is built for the provision of interest test based on the Holland’s RIASEC theory.
