Abstract

Due to pandemic, many schools and universities start to have online learning. There are many challenges due to online learning, two of them are the activeness and engagement of the students. This study aims to explore about interactive teaching of English lesson in online setting for middle school students. The researcher uses Community Inquiry Framework as the basis of interactive teaching implementation and associates it with Christian education where the main purpose is to bring students to the maturity in Christ. Through interactive teaching, the teacher can also build relationship with the students and that can give teachers opportunity to share life stories that is showing Christ. This study uses descriptive qualitative method and use some datas from researcher second practicum. With community-inquiry framework which has three elements (teaching presence, cognitive presence, social presence), it can provide students to have a deep and meaningful learning and encourage students to be more involved in the teaching and learning process. However, it depends also on the teacher as the one who conducted the teaching and learning. Therefore, it is important for teachers to develop their teaching skills and make sure the planned learning to reach the goal at the same time meeting the students needs.
