Abstract

It is believed that teachers are responsible for helping the students achieve their educational purposes, even in the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic situation which was less effective due to the occurrence of students’ disruptive behavior. During one week of observation, several students were caught doing things unrelated to the lesson, such as starting other discussion topics in chat meetings, turning off their friends' and teachers' microphones, and removing classmates out of conference meetings. This misbehavior interferes with the effectiveness of teacher teaching and student learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine student disruptive behavior that occurs in online classrooms, what strategy is taken to prevent it during online learning, and the teacher's role in the implementation. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The instruments used in this research are the Reflection journal and Lesson Plan. Classroom rules and procedures are implemented as a preventive tool to minimize distraction caused by students and engage technology to optimize it. In addition, researchers suggest that teachers involve students in determining the application of rules to be applied in class. Therefore, the researcher suggests the next researcher conduct research that includes students' perceptions of the application of classroom rules.
