Abstract

The purpose of this Internship Report is to analyse the current problem of the targeted firm, Company XYZ and advice possible solutions to resolve it. Company XYZ, a new young firm in Indonesia is facing issues in obtaining a SIUPAAK licence. As a marine recruiting firm, it needs this particular licence to operate. This report investigates the steps taken to obtain this license and investigates possible reasons behind the delay to obtain licence using SWOT and PESTLE. The SWOT and PESTLE acts as tools to decipher whether or not this foreign company's weakness acts as a contributor toward the delay in obtaining licences to operate in Indonesia. The root cause behind the delay in obtaining the license is due to the lack of coordination amongst Ministry of Transport and BKPM. Findings from observation analysis reveals that the lack of Company XYZ's investigative skills in analyzing the political and legal environment highlights their status as a new entrant in Indonesia, who lacks poor networking skills. This justifies that a company's weakness do contribute to the delay in obtaining license and incorporation matter, thereby reiterating the importance of investigating a country's legal environment before investing.
