Abstract

Zaman globalisasi ditandai dengan kemajuan teknologi dan informasi yang mempermudah dalam melakukan komunikasi antar pribadi. Salah satu teknologi yang berkembang pesat adalah Internet. Internet menyebabkan munculnya media sosial. Saat ini terdapat media sosial yang ditujukan untuk kalangan tertentu, seperti kaum pria homoseksual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab rumusan masalah, yaitu bagaimana tahap proses pengembangan hubungan pasangan pria homoseksual melalui media sosial Jack’d. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam kepada informan terpilih. Penelitian ini dibingkai oleh Staircase Model of Relationship Development yang didasari Teori Penetrasi Sosial, yang mengatakan bahwa di dalam sebuah hubungan terdapat dua fase, yaitu fase perkembangan (proses asosiatif) dan perenggangan (proses disosiatif). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi yang baik antar pasangan membawa hubungan menjadi semakin intim, dan sebaliknya gangguan dalam hubungan mengakibatkan ketidakharmonisan hubungan. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pengembangan hubungan pasangan pria homoseksual melalui tahapan proses asosiatif dan disosiatif yang disebabkan oleh komunikasi antar pribadi. / Globalization era is marked by advances in technology and information that facilitate the interpersonal communication. One of the rapidly evolving technology is Internet. Internet leads to the existence of social media. Currently there are social media purposely for certain communities, such as the homosexual. This study aims to answer the research question, which is the stages of relationship development process of homosexual male couples through social media Jack'd. This research uses a phenomenological method with qualitative approach. Data are collected through in-depth interviews to selected informants. This study is framed by the Staircase Model of Relationship Development based on Social Penetration Theory, which says that in a relationship there are two phases, the development phase (associative process) and disintegration phase (dissociative process). The result shows that good communication between partners brings more intimacy to the relationship, and however disruption between partners brings disharmony to the relationship. Therefore, it can be concluded that the relationship development process of homosexual male couples are going through the associative processes and dissociative processes which caused by interpersonal communication.
