Abstract
Pemberitaan kasus bunuh diri di media massa memicu kesadaran akan kesehatan mental masyarakat global. Bunuh diri bisa dilakukan oleh siapapun, tidak dibatasi oleh status sosial, tingkat pendidikan, kemampuan finansial dan jenis kelamin, dengan alasan yang beragam. Diketahui bahwa bunuh diri paling banyak terjadi pada kalangan anak remaja. Berbagai masalah yang dihadapi oleh remaja bisa menjadi pemicu bunuh diri bila tidak ditangani dengan baik.
Untuk itulah, diperlukan penelitian untuk memahami pola-pola komunikasi dalam menangani masalah remaja yang dapat mengarah pada kecenderungan bunuh diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian interpretatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan data primer, yaitu wawancara, dan data sekunder berupa studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi dari beberapa webinar. Wawancara dilakukan kepada para guru Bimbingan Konseling Sekolah Menengah Atas, pegiat komunitas anti bunuh diri dan orang yang berhasil mengatasi masa sulit yang berpotensi mendorong tindakan bunuh diri.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pola-pola yang diterapkan dalam komunikasi dengan remaja baik yang bermasalah maupun yang berpotensi masalah dan pola komunikasi tertentu dipandang lebih baik daripada pola lainnya./The news of suicide cases in mass media triggers the awareness of mental health in the global society. Suicide can be done by anyone with various reasons, despite of his social status, educational background, financial competency and gender. It is known that suicide mostly occurred among teenagers. Various problems faced by teenagers may become the triggers of suicide when the problems are not solved well.
Due to the reason, this research is done to understand the patterns of communication used by the Counselling Guidance teachers in dealing with the problems of teenagers which may lead to the tendency of commiting suicide. This research uses the qualitative approach with the interpretive method. Data collection is carried out through interviews as sources of primary data, and literature and document study from several Webinars as sources of secondary data. Interviews are performed with the Counselling Guidance teachers at Senior High Schools, the activist of anti-suicide community and the person who survived the difficult times which were potentially luring to suicide.
From the research, it is shown that some patterns are applied in the communication with teenagers both in problems and in potential troubles, and a certain pattern of communication is considered better than the others.
