Abstract

Selain itu, pihak Pemerintah dan pembuatan kebijakan disarankan agar meninjau kembali penggunaan bahasa isyarat yang tepat bagi tunarungu./Physical limitations such as hearing loss or what is known as deaf, of course make it difficult for humans to communicate. The deaf use sign language in everyday communication. In Indonesia, there are 2 sign languages used by deaf people, namely Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) and Indonesian Sign Language System (SIBI). This study aims to examine the safety of using the two languages specified by BISINDO and SIBI as a means of communication for the deaf in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of case study research. The data technique used, observation and documentation. While the object in this study is the user of the specified language. Judging from the symbolic interaction theory presented by Blumer, through the mechanism of using standard SIBI and BISINDO languages, there is a distortion of meaning that results in communication errors. So that the communicator needs to explain again about the message conveyed so that the meaning can be received correctly by the communicant. BISINDO users (91%) should gain insight by studying SIBI (9%). In addition, the Government and policy making requests to review the use of appropriate language for deaf people.
