Abstract

Perubahan iklim merupakan isu yang mengancam masa depan dunia. Semakin lama, dampak yang dihasilkan dari perubahan iklim semakin memburuk dan sulit diperbaiki. Terlebih bagi ASEAN sebagai salah satu kawasan yang paling terancam dari dampak perubahan iklim. Melihat urgensi yang dimiliki oleh isu perubahan iklim dunia, ASEAN sebagai bentuk regionalisme di kawasan Asia Tenggara tidaklah tinggal diam. Untuk mewujudkan komitmennya dalam isu tersebut, banyak usaha yang telah diambil oleh ASEAN melalui program kerja nyata dan pernyataan serta deklarasi yang menunjukkan dukungannya dalam isu perubahan iklim dunia. Melalui teori Liberalisme, ditekankan bahwa peran negara dan non-negara sama pentingnya dalam isu internasional. Oleh karena itu dalam mewujudkan komitmen ASEAN tersebut, dibutuhkan kerja sama dari seluruh aktor yang terlibat dalam isu ini. Salah satu aktor yang tidak dapat dilupakan adalah peran dari generasi muda. Peran dari generasi muda ASEAN dapat diamati dari tindakan aktivisme yang dilakukannya dalam usaha mitigasi dan adaptasi perubahan lingkungan melalui peningkatan kesadaran akan pentingnya isu perubahan iklim dunia. Di ASEAN, terdapat berbagai bentuk keterlibatan pemuda mengenai isu perubahan iklim dunia, mulai dari ASEAN Plus Three Youth Environment Forum, ASEAN Eco-Champions Award hingga ASEAN Youth Organization. Peran dari generasi muda sangatlah penting untuk menyuarakan pendapat yang dimiliki terkait dengan isu yang menyangkut masa depan pemuda, termasuk dalam isu perubahan iklim dunia. Melihat hal tersebut, dilakukan penelitian ini melalui metode deskriptif dengan tujuan untuk menjabarkan bentuk kontribusi yang telah dilakukan pemuda ASEAN sebagai salah satu aktor penting yang berperan dalam diwujudkannya komitmen ASEAN terhadap perubahan iklim dunia. / Climate change is an issue that threatens the future of the world. As time goes, the effect from climate change worsen and gets harder to repair. Especially in ASEAN, which is one of the most threatened regions by the effect of climate change. Seeing the urgency from the climate change issu, ASEAN as the regional organization in Southeast Asia cannot stay still. To prove its commitment towards this issue, many efforts have been taken by ASEAN through real work programs, statements and declarations that clearly shows its supports towards the global climate change issue. In the Liberalism theory, the role of state and non-state actors are equals in the face of international issue. Therefore, in fulfilling the ASEAN commitment towards global climate change issue, there needs to be a cooperation between all actors involved in this particular issue. One of the actors that cannot be forgotten is the role of the youth generation. The role of the ASEAN youth generation can be seen through the activism that has been done in the mitigation and adaptation efforts of climate change by rising the awareness in the importance of climate change issue. In ASEAN, there are a number of activities created by the youth in regard to the climate change issue, such as ASEAN Plus Three Youth Environment Forum, ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award, and ASEAN Youth Organization. The role of the youth generation is very important to voice their opinion regarding issues which will have an impact towards their future, including the climate change issue. Therefore, this research was done using the descriptive method to explain the contributions of ASEAN youth as one of the important actors in fulfilling ASEAN commitment towards the global climate change issue.
