Abstract

Motivasi merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi aktivitas belajar siswa. Motivasi berfungsi untuk memberikan semangat dan mendorong siswa dalam melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas V kurang memiliki motivasi dalam mengikuti pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Siswa cenderung pasif dan tidak memperhatikan penjelasan yang diberikan oleh guru di dalam kelas. Siswa mengobrol dan meletakkan kepalanya di aats meja ketika guru menjelaskan materi. Permasalahan tersebut dapat diatasi dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Talking Stick. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Talking Stick untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas V SD pada pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan menerapkan dua siklus. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa-siswi kelas V sebanyak 13 orang siswa laki-laki dan 11 orang siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 27 Oktober 2015 – 3 November 2015. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu lembar wawancara mentor, lembar angket siswa, lembar check list, dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Model pembelajaran Talking Stick dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas V SD pada pelajaran bahasa Indonesia yaitu 80.46% - 84.5% siswa memiliki hasrat dan keinginan untuk belajar. 79.2% - 91.7% terdapat kegiatan yang menarik dalam pembelajaran. 79.2% - 91.65% siswa ulet dalam menghadapi kesulitan. 79.2% - 87.5% siswa tekun dalam mengerjakan tugas. Penerapan model pembelajaran Talking Stick dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas V SD sudah memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan baik sekali yang dilakukan secara konsisten dengan menerapkan tiga langkah yaitu 1) menjelaskan materi, 2) menjelaskan kegiatan yang akan dilakukan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Talking Stick, dan 3) mengecek pemahaman siswa terhadap materi yang telah dijelaskan./Motivation is one of the factors that can impact a student’s activeness in class. Motivation functions to provide students with the encouragement and passion to do the learning activities. The result of the research has shown that the students in Grade V lack the motivation in following the Bahasa Indonesia lessons. The students are often passive and do not pay attention to the explanation given by the teachers in the class. The students were talking to each other and laying their heads on the table when the teacher explained the materials. These problems faced can be solved using the Talking Stick method of learning. The purpose of this research is to understand the effect of the Talking Stick method of learning to increase students’ motivation in Grade V in Subject Bahasa Indonesia. The method of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) by applying 2 cycles. The subject of the research is students in Grade V with 13 students being boys and 11 students being girls. This research was conducted on the 27th October 2015 – 3 November 2015. The instruments of research used are mentor interview sheets, student questionnaire sheets, checklist sheets, and journal reflection. The results showed that the learning model Talking Stick can enhance students' motivation in class V elementary school in subject bahasa Indonesia, namely 80.46% - 84.5% students have the desire and willingness to learn. 79.2% - 91.7% are interesting in learning activities. 79.2% - 91.65% of students are resilient in the face of adversity. 79.2% - 87.5% of students are diligent in doing the task. Learning model application Talking Stick in improving students' motivation fifth grade elementary school has met the success criteria splendidly done consistently by applying three steps: 1) explain the material, 2) describes the activities to be carried out by using model Talking Stick, and 3) check the students' understanding of the material that has been described.
