Abstract

The learning process which followed by high numbers of students’ misbehavior will make learning less effective because teachers have struggling in teaching and students distracted in learning so that they learn less than they should. Students’ misbehavior can be prevented if teachers apply good classroom management. Based on the observation during pre-study in grade three at ABC School, the researcher found that most of the students in the class had problems with behavior during teaching and learning process. Therefore, the researcher conducted a research to look at the implementation of the five components of classroom management to reduce misbehaviors in grade three students. The researcher conducted a case study research to see the way of teacher implement effective classroom management in order to reduce students’ misbehavior. The researcher observed third grader students for four weeks and collected data by using observation checklist and anecdotal observation, interviewed the homeroom teacher, and gave questionnaire to the students. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the effective classroom management does not merely depend on the ability of the teacher to implement five components of classroom management. Teacher needs consistency so that teacher can maintain the components of classroom management which already implemented. Teacher should remember that classroom management is not only about making the class quiet, but how the teacher can prevent the misbehaviors.
