Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan peneliti pada kelas 1di sekolah XYZ Tomohon, ditemukan adanya siswa yang kurang termotivasi ketika pelajaran IPA berlangsung. Terdapat siswa yang malas-malasan, melamun, menguap, meletakkan kepala di atas meja, tidak punya keinginan bertanya ataupun mejawab pertanyaan serta menggangu teman. Hal ini dikarenakan pelajaran IPA bukan pelajaran yang menarik bagi siswa kelas 1 karena banyaknya materi baru yang harus dipelajari, cara mengajar guru yang monoton serta banyaknya kata-kata yang baru bagi siswa kelas 1. Siswa kelas 1 masih dalam tahap operasional konkret sehingga siswa susah memikirkan dan memahami hal baru dan abstrak bagi mereka. Hal ini menunjukkan siswa membutuhkan sumber belajar yang konkret sehingga siswa dapat lebih memahami konsep pelajaran dengan baik dan dapat menumbuhkan motivasi dalam diri untuk belajar. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada di dalam kelas, peneliti menggunakan media visual dalam proses pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dengan penggunaan media visual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis & McTaggart. Penelitian yang dilakukan mulai 3 September 2015 hingga 17 September 2015. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga siklus dengan melibatkan 15 siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah umpan balik mentor, observasi, angket, wawancara dan jurnal refleksi. Dalam menganalisis instrumen tersebut, peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis statistik sederhana dan analisis kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan diperoleh bahwa motivasi belajar siswa sudah terlihat meningkat setelah penggunakan media visual yang diterapkan ketika menjelaskan materi pelajaran IPA./Based on the observation done in grade 1 at Primary School XYZ Tomohon, some students we found lets motivated in learning Science. Some students were found lazy, daydreamed, yowned, their heads on the table, did not have willingness to asked questions nor answer the question, and bothered their friends during the presentation. This might happen because science was not an interesting subject for grade 1 students because there were lots of new material to be learnt, teacher’s boring teaching method and lots of new terms for grade 1 students. Grade 1 students were still in the concrete operational stage so that it was difficult for them to think and understand new terms and more abstract things. It showed that grade 1 students needed concret learning resource to understand the concepts better and develop their internal motivation to learn. Therefore, this research was done ad the solution to tackle grade 1 students’ motivation problem in learning Science. Based on the problems occurred in the class, the researcher use visual media to increase grade 1 students’s motivation in learning Science and to know the effectiveness of using visual media to increase learning motivation. This research used Classroom Acction Reseach (CAR) by Kemmis & McTaggart’s model. This reseach was conducted on September 3rd 2015 – September 17th 2015. There were three cycles and is student involed in this research. The instruments that were used to gathere the data were mentor’s feedback, observation, questionnaire, interview, and jurnal reflection. Descriptive statistical analysis and descriptive qualitative analysis research, it was found that grade 1 students learning motivation had increase by the application of visual media in teaching Science.
