Abstract

Keterlibatan siswa terdiri dari tiga tipe yaitu keterlibatan perilaku, emosional, dan kognitif. Ketiga tipe ini tidak dapat berdiri sendiri karena merupakan satu kesatuan. Akan tetapi pada kenyataannya selama proses pembelajaran, siswa hanya terlibat secara kognitif sedangkan secara sikap dan emosi siswa tidak terlibat. Sebagai upaya mengatasi masalah tersebut, peneliti menggunakan media gambar untuk dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan sikap dan emosi siswa. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kemmis dan Taggart yang berlangsung selama dua siklus. Penelitian diadakan di Sekolah Ora et Labora Tangerang pada kelas K1 A. Penelitian dilakukan pada tanggal 21 Oktober 2016 dan 28 Oktober 2016. Instrumen yang peneliti gunakan adalah lembar observasi keterlibatan sikap dan emosi siswa, lembar observasi karakteristik media gambar, lembar wawancara keterlibatan siswa, lembar wawancara karakteristik media gambar, jurnal refleksi dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, penggunaan media gambar dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa secara sikap dan emosi, karakteristik media gambar yang dapat membuat siswa terlibat secara sikap dan emosi adalah karakteristik media yang sesuai dengan konteks kehidupan siswa dan sesuai dengan kondisi kelompok siswa. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media gambar yang difokuskan pada karakteristik media dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa./There are three types of student engagement, which are student behavioral engagement, student emotional engagement, and student cognitive engagement. Those three types of student engagement can not stand alone because they are unity. However, in fact of learning process, most of student are only engage cognitively, and not behaviorally and emotionally. In attempt to resolve this problem, the researcher used pictures media in order to increase student behavior and emotional engagement. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) Kemmis and Taggart model, conducted in two cycles. The research conducted in Sekolah Ora et Labora, Tangerang on kindergarten one students. The research conducted in October 21st, 2016 and October 28th, 2016. The research instruments used are student behavior and emotional engagement observation sheet, characteristic of pictures media observation sheet, students engagement interview sheet, characteristic of pictures media interview sheet, reflection journal, and documentation. According to this research, picture media can improve behavior and emotional engagement, the characteristic of picture media which could engage students behavior and emotional is media which suitable with the context of the students' daily life and suitable with students' group condition. so can be concluded that the using of picture media which focus on the characteristic media can increase students behavior and emotional engagement.
