Abstract
Green synthesize methods have been developed for obtaining nanoparticles as alternative methods to replace chemical and physicals methods. Green synthesis methods use plants or plants extracts which is considered safer than chemical and physical methods. Chemical compounds that occurred naturally in plants act as reducing and capping agents for nanoparticles synthesize. The aim of this present study was to utilize banana leaves and peels to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) since banana plants can be widely found in Indonesia as a tropical country then apply the AgNPs on film packaging to study antioxidant activity of film wih addition of AgNPs. Banana leaves and peels were extracted using MAE (Microwave Assisted Extraction) methods with different ratio of water to ethanol as solvents. Each extracts were used for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) then analyzed its yield and antioxidant activity. AgNPs synthesized from banana peels extracts using ethanol obtain the highest amount (773.05±11.82) mg with (82.30±0.18)% antioxidant activity and the size was 109.8 nm. The AgNPs-peel were applied on film with several different concentrations. The antioxidant activity of film reinforced with AgNPs were analyzed resulting 1% additional of AgNPs turned out to have the best antioxidant activity (15.68±0.92)% with tensile strength value (1.05±0.02) MPa, elongation (26.00±5.95)% and water vapor trasnmisson rate was (31.33±3.61) g/h.mm2.
