Abstract

Matematika merupakan ide abstrak dan ilmu yang terstruktur. Sementara itu, siswa kelas IV berada dalam tahap perkembangan operasional konkret dan mereka kurang mampu untuk berpikir abstrak seperti masa remaja. Karakteristik pelajaran matematika tersebut kurang sesuai dengan tingkat kognitif siswa SD sehingga menjadi kendala bagi siswa untuk dapat memahami konsep matematika. Metode ceramah yang digunakan oleh guru dalam penjelasan materi kurang dapat pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah metode STAD dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika topik operasi hitung pecahan siswa kelas IV SD ABC di Lampung serta menjelaskan langkah-langkah penerapan metode STAD dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika topik operasi hitung pecahan siswa kelas IV SD di Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua kali siklus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari tanggal 20 Oktober 2016 sampai 3 November 2016. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD ABC di Lampung yang berjumlah 20 anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode STAD dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas IV SD dalam topik operasi hitung pecahan. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan dalam meningkatkan metode STAD yaitu presentasi, kerja kelompok, kuis individu dan penghargaan kelompok./Mathematics is a subject which characteristic is abstract and systematically. Meanwhile, student grade IV is on concrete cognitive level which is less for understanding abstract like teens. The characteristic of mathematic is not accordance with elementary students’ cognitive level. Explanation of the mathematics subject by teacher rated less comprehensive for students conceptual understanding of mathematics. This reseach was conducted to know is the method of STAD could improving mathematics conceptual understanding and to explain the steps of the STAD method to improving student mathematics conceptual understanding. The method is Students Team Achievment Division (STAD). Research method used by researcher is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. The research started in October 20, 2016 until November 3, 2016. Subject of this research are 20 IV grade students at ABC School in Lampung. The research showed that the implementing STAD method could improve students’ mathematics conceptual understanding. The steps of STAD menthod which implementing in this reasearch to improve students mathematics conceptual understanding are presentation, group discussion, individual quizzes, and group awardness.
