Abstract
Keterampilan sosial diperlukan dalam berinteraksi dengan orang lain agar terhindar dari konflik dan hidup saling mengasihi, namun berdasarkan pengamatan di kelas satu sekolah dasar di Banten, ditemukan bahwa anak-anak kelas satu perlu untuk mengembangkan keterampilan sosial mereka khususnya dalam menyelesaikan konflik yang mereka hadapi dengan teman sebaya mereka. Mereka cenderung untuk mengadu kepada guru daripada menyelesaikan konflik tersebut. Maka, peneliti memutuskan untuk menerapkan Wheel of Choice untuk membantu masalah ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan Wheel of Choice dalam menyelesaikan konflik yang terjadi antar teman sebaya di kelas satu Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan pada 10 Agustus – 3 November 2016. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus yang melibatkan 23 siswa. Data yang didapat di analisa dengan menggunakan teknik analisis kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen yang digunakan seperti checklist mentor, angket siswa, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui penerapan Wheel of Choice dapat meningkatkan penyelesaian konflik yang terjadi antar teman sebaya. Maka dari itu, tanpa mengesampingakn kelemahannya, sebuah metode Wheel of Choice dapat menjadi sebuah teknik peningkatan keterampilan sosial untuk menyelesaikan konflik yang terjadi antar teman sebaya, khususnya di kelas level rendah./Social skills were needed to interact and love one another, but based on observation of grade one students at a school in Banten, it was found that students in grade one need to develop their social skills especially for resolving conflicts that they have with their peers. They tended to complain to their teachers instead of dealing with the conflicts themselves. Thus, the researcher decided to use the Wheel of Choice to help this problem. The aim of this research was to investigate the implementation of the Wheel of Choice in resolving conflicts that happened between peers in this grade one elementary school. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted from August 10 to November 3, 2016. The research consisted of two cycles and involved 23 students. A qualitative descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. The instruments used were a mentor’s checklist, a student survey, and the researcher’s journal reflections. The research showed that the students improved their social skills by using the Wheel of Choice to help them resolve conflicts. Therefore, despite its limitations, Wheel of Choice could be an alternative social skills development technique to improve resolving conflicts in a classroom, especially in lower grade.
