Abstract
Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penggunaan media jejaring sosial Twitter dengan motivasi belajar siswa SMA Negeri 7 Tangerang Selatan. Metode penelitian menggunakan kuantiatif dengan sampel sebanyak 86 seccara random, analisis menggunakan uji korelasi dan uji hipotesis. Rata-rata siswa memberikan penilaian tinggi terhadap penggunaan media jejaring sosial Twitter, dimana dimensi penggunaan Twitter menujukan bahwa keringkasan merupakan dimensi tertinggi. Hal ini menandakan bahwa Twitter lebih ringkas dibandingkan dengan media sosial lainnya. Pada variabel motivasi memperlihatkan kecenderungan apresiasi tinggi dimana motivasi intrinsik
merupakan motivasi yang lebih tinggi artinya motivasi siswa lebih datangnya dari kemauan dalam diri siswa. Hasil pengujian statistik terdapat korelasi positif kuat
artinya bila penggunaan media jejaring sosial Twitter ditingkatkan maka akan diikuti penguatan pada motivasi belajar juga. Hal ini terbukti pada pengujian hipotesis dengan hasil ada signifikasi secara positif, artinya penggunaan media jejaring sosial Twitter dapat dijadikan tolak ukur terhadap penguatan motivasi belajar siswa SMA Negeri 7 Tangerang Selatan. / This study aims to find out the correlation between the use of Twitter social media networks and the study motivation of the students in SMA Negeri 7, South Tangerang. This study employs a quantitative methodology in which 86 random samples of data were used. Correlation and regression as well as
hypothesis testing were conducted to analyze the data.
The average number of the students responded by giving high ratings toward the use of Twitter social-media network, particularly in the dimension of Twitter, showing simpleness as the highest. This indicates that Twitter is more simple than other social-media networks. As for the variable of study motivation, there is a high tendency that the intrinsic motivation is the higher motivation,
meaning the students are more self-motivated. The result of the statistics testing has shown that there is a strong and positive correlation in the variables, meaning
the higher the use of Twitter, the higher the study motivation will be. In addition, as evident in the hypothesis testing which resulted in positive significance, the use of Twitter can be used to measure the strengthening of study motivation of the students in SMA Negeri 7, South Tangerang.
