Abstract

Pemahaman Konsep merupakan hal yang penting dalam perkembangan kognitif siswa. Pemahaman merupakan dasar bagi siswa untuk mampu melanjutkan menuju tingkatan berpikir selanjutya. Namun hal yang menjadi dasar bagi tingkatan berpikir seringkali terbengkalai. Pemahaman konsep merupakan inti dari konsep suatu pembelajaran, dimana pemahaman tersebut nanti akan digunakan dalam pemecahan masalah. Pemahaman akan konsep merupakan dasar dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini yang menjadi masalah yang ditemukan peneliti dalam kelas di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui penerapan metode diskusi kelompok. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen lembar kerja siswa untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap pembelajaran ekonomi dengn topik APBN dan APBD yang dilakukan oleh siswa. Angket siswa yaitu mengukur pendapat siswa mengenai pembelajaran dengan metode diskusi kelompok, jurnal refleksi yaitu berisi pengamatan pribadi dari peneliti, wawancara guru bidang studi yaitu mengukur kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa menurut pengamatan guru bidang studi secara naratif. Berdasarkan analisis hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode diskusi kelompok dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas XI IPS pada mata pelajaran Ekonomi dengan topik APBN dan APBD. / Conceptual understanding is important in students’ cognitive development. Understanding is the foundation for the students to be able to improve level of thinking. But in fact, that foundation is often unreachable. Conceptual understanding is the core of the learning that is used to solve the problem. There fore, understanding of the concept is the basic in the learning. This problem found in the Christian school in Palopo. Because of that, this research has a purpose to improve students’ conceptual understanding through the implementation of group discussion. Research method that used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles. Data collection done using istruments such as students’ worksheet to measure economics conceptual understanding in the topic of APBD and APBN, students’ questionnaire to measure the opinion about the usage of group discussion method, researcher’s journal reflection, interview with the economics teacher about students conceptual understanding narratively. Based on the research results analysis, concluded that the implementation of group discussion method improved students’ economics conceptual understanding grade XI social in the topics of APBN and APBD.
