Abstract
Penelitian di sekolah Kristen Kupang dilaksanakan berdasarkan atas hasil observasi peneliti di kelas XI IPS dalam pelajaran Ekonomi. Peneliti menemukan siswa kelas XI IPS sangat pasif mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas, maka perlu adanya dorongan kepada siswa agar aktif berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut peneliti memutuskan menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI IPS pada topik pasar keuangan melalui pembelajaran tipe kooperatif tipe CIRC dan mengetahui langkah penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC yang baik untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Taggart yang berlangsung dengan tiga siklus mulai dari 8 Oktober hingga 22 Oktober 2015. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data ialah lembar observasi, lembar angket, panduan wawancara, lembar umpan balik mentor, agenda mengajar dan catatan lapangan. Analisis data yang digunakan berupa analisis deskriptif statistik dan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Setelah dilakukan analisis data, maka hasil yang diperoleh menyatakan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC ini dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan tercapainya setiap indikator keaktifan belajar siswa yaitu menunjukan rasa ingin tahu dengan bertanya, melaksanakan semua kegiatan pembelajaran dalam kelas, mengomunikasikan pemikirannya melalui pendapat. Jadi peneliti menarik kesimpulan bahwa keaktifan belajar siswa dapat ditingkatkan dengan penerapan langkah model pembelajaran tipe CIRC secara benar disertai instruksi yang jelas, sikap tegas terhadap kelakuan siswa di kelas, kejelasan penjelasan tujuan dan manfaat dari belajar kelompok.

Research at the Christian school in Kupang, was conducted based on the researcher’s observation result in the grade XI economics class. Researcher found that the students in grade XI IPS were very passive during the learning activities in the classroom, therefore, they needed to be encouraged to actively participate in the learning activities. To resolve the issue the researcher decided to implement of model cooperative learning type Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). This research aimed to improve students' learning activeness in grade XI Social Class in learning economics by implementing CIRC cooperative learning type and to know how the steps of CIRC cooperative learning type improve students’ activeness in learning. The research method used in this research was the Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and Mc Taggart model that plasted in three cycles starting from 8th of October until 22nd October 2015. The instrument used to collect data were observation checklist sheet, questionnaire sheet, interview sheet, teaching agenda, and field note. Data analysis technique that used in this research, were descriptive statistics analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the collected data stated that CIRC cooperative learning type could improve students’ active learning. This was demonstrated by the achievement of each indicator of student active learning, which were show curiosity by asking, perform all learning activities in the classroom, communicate his thoughts through opinion. Thus, the researcher drew a conclusion that students' learning activeness could be enhanced with the implementation of CIRC cooperative learning type properly and followed with a clear instruction, firm attitude toward the behavior of the students in the classroom, and the clear explanation of the purpose and benefits of group learning.
