Abstract
Pembelajaran yang bersifat tradisional, di mana guru mengajar di depan kelas dan murid mendengarkan saja, mempunyai banyak kelemahan. Beberapa kelemahan tersebut diantaranya adalah siswa mempunyai kecenderungan pasif dan kurang kritis dalam proses belajar dan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan menganalisis pengaruh penerapan problem based learning terhadap persepsi critical thinking dan keterampilan metakognitif siswa. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan metode weak experiment: one group pretest post-test design, penelitian ini dilaksanakan. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 12 di SMA “XYZ” Makassar, dengan jumlah siswa 28 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode problem based learning memiliki pengaruh terhadap persepsi critical thinking dan keterampilan metakognitif siswa. Namun, pengaruh yang diperoleh masih tergolong rendah, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima.

In traditional learning, where a teacher teaches in a classroom and the students only listen, have several weaknesses. Some of the weaknesses are students have a tendency to be passive and less critical in the process of teaching and learning. The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of applying the problem based learning to students’ critical thinking perception and metacognitive ability. Through a quantitative approach and using the experiment method, this research was conducted. The subjects of this research were 28 grade XII students at High School "XYZ" Makassar. The results of this study show that the problem based learning method is able to increase students’ critical thinking and metacognitive abilities. However, the influence is in low category, so it concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.
