Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan salah satu Sekolah Menenagh Atas (SMA) di kota Manado, Sulawesi Utara, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa kurang aktif dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Peneliti memutuskan menggunakan metode TGT sebagai solusi dari permasalahan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI-IPS melalui penerapan metode TGT, serta peneliti ingin mengetahui penerapan metode TGT dalam meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI-IPS. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model spiral dari Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian dilakukan pada 29 Oktober sampai 6 November 2015 pada 19 siswa dalam dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi checklist dan angket siswa yang akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan perhitungan statistik sederhana. Lembar wawancara guru mentor, observasi deskriptif dan jurnal refleksi yang akan dianalisis menggunakan koding dan pengklasifikasian. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa penerapan metode TGT dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh tercapainya seluruh indikator keaktifan belajar siswa, yakni siswa memerhatikan penjelasan guru, siswa menjawab pertanyaan yang diberikan guru dan siswa memberikan pertanyaan mengenai materi yang belum dipahami. Keaktifan belajar siswa dapat meningkat dengan cara melaksanakan empat fase pelaksanaan TGT yaitu: fase penyajian kelas, fase pembentukan kelompok, fase game, dan fase team recognize, agar setiap tahapan TGT dapat berjalan dengan baik dan sesuai dengan tujuan diperlukan instruksi yang jelas dan sikap tegas oleh guru. / Based on the observation that done in a Senior High School in Manado, North Sulawesi, the researcher found that the students were not active in learning process in the classroom. The researcher decided to use the method of TGT as the solution of this issue. This research aimed to improve social program grade XI students’ activeness through the using of TGT method, as well as to know the applying of this method in improving social program grade XI students’ activeness. The methodology that used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) in spiral mode by Kemmis and Taggart. The research was started on October 29 until November 6 2015 on 19 students in two cycles. The instruments that being used were checklist observation and students’ questionnaire that will be analyzed by using basic statistic calculation. Teacher mentor interview sheet, descriptive observation and reflection journal that will be analyzed by using coding and classification. The result of the research stated that the applying of TGT method can improve students’ learning activeness. This thing shown by all activeness learning indicators achievement that are attentive in teacher’s explanation, the students answer the given question(s) by the teacher as well as asking the question(s) on incomprehensible material yet. The students’ learning activeness can be improved by done four phases of TGT, that are: classroom serving phase, grouping phase, game phase, and team recognize phase, in order to all these TGT steps can be done well and in accordance with the purpose of clearly and straightly action necessities by the teacher.
