Abstract
Berdasarkan hasil observasi, diidentifikasi bahwa siswa kelas VII SMP ABC Lampung tidak dapat memahami konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS. Hal ini terlihat dari ketidakmampuan siswa untuk menjelaskan jawaban pertanyaan dengan tepat pada kegiatan tanya jawab dan hasil pencapaian nilai kuis yang belum mencapai KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) yang ditetapkan sekolah. Selain itu, pembelajaran selalu berfokus pada kegiatan ceramah dan mencatat, sehingga siswa membutuhkan alat bantu pembelajaran yang memberikan ringkasan dan latihan soal untuk mengasah kemampuan memahami konsep secara mandiri. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini betujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui penggunaan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 16 orang. Penelitian dilakukan pada 27 Oktober - 03 November 2015. Peneliti menggunakan instrumen lembar tes, lembar kuesioner siswa, lembar wawancara guru mentor, dan jurnal refleksi untuk mendapatkan informasi. Data yang diperoleh akan diolah dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan LKS dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep kelas VII di SMP ABC Lampung pada mata pelajaran IPS. Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan jumlah persentase siswa yang lulus KKM dan tercapainya indikator pemahaman konsep yang digunakan pada tes siswa.

According to observation result, the researcher identified that grade VII students at SMP ABC Lampung were not able to understand the concept of social study. This problem was recognized from the limitation of the students in explaining the answer of the questions correctly in question and answer activity and the quiz result that didn’t reach the standard (KKM) which was determined by the school. Besides, the learning always focused on lecturing and taking note, so that students needed a learning tool that gave them the summary and excercises to improve their ability in understanding the concept independently. Therefore the purpose of the research is to increase students’ conceptual understanding by the use of students’ worksheet. Research method which used was Classroom Action Research (CAR ) that was done in three cycles., it involved 16 students. The research was conducted on October 27th until November 3rd 2015. The researcher used some research instruments which are test, students’ questionnaire, mentor teacher’s interview sheet and reflection journal to obtain information. Data which was obtained would be processed and analized descriptively. The research result showed that the use of students’ worksheet could increase grade VII students’ conceptual understanding at SMP ABC Lampung in learning social study. This was seen from the increase of the percentage of students who passed the standard and the achievement of conceptual understanding indicators which were used in students’ test.
