Abstract

Dewasa ini, perkembangan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia sangat cepat. Universitas – universitas yang ada terus bersaing satu sama lain untuk menjadi yang terbaik. Setiap universitas memerlukan adanya kekhasan dan visi untuk dapat membedakan dirinya dengan yang lain. Universitas Pelita Harapan adalah salah satu universitas swasta di Indonesia yang memiliki menjunjung tinggi visi dan misinya. Adapun visi dari Universitas Pelita Harapan adalah tidak terlepas dari nilai – nilai Kristen yang menjadi landasan pendidikannya. Segala institusi tidak terlepas dari keunikan yang dimilikinya. Dan diperlukan adanya suatu komunikasi organisasi untuk secara efektif menyampaikan nilai – nilai yang dianut oleh sebuah organisasi tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penulis memilih meneliti proses ini untuk mengetahui kegiatan sosialisasi nilai yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Pelita Harapan terkait pemberian nilai – nilai visinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara dan observasi non-partisipan sebagai sumber data primer, serta studi kepustakaan sebagai pelengkap data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa outcome proses sosialisasi nilai visi yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Pelita Harapan masih belum sesuai harapan dan ekspektasi. Hal tersebut dikarenakan banyaknya masih terlalu banyaknya penekanan terhadap nilai – nilai teoritis dibandingkan dengan nilai – nilai pengaplikasian./ The development of universities in Indonesia today is very rapid. The universities in Indonesia continue to compete with each other to be the best. Every university needs a uniqueness and a vision to differ them from others. Pelita Harapan University is one of the private universities in Indonesia that has uphold its vision and mission. The vision of the University of Pelita Harapan is inseparable from the Christian values that became the foundation of its education. All institutions need to embody the uniqueness it has. And so there is a need for an effective organizational communication to transfer the values of the organization, the author chose to study this process to know the socialization activities conducted by Universitas Pelita Harapan regarding the transfer of its vision value. This research use a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data collection process consist of interviews and non-participat observation for the primary data, and literature study to complete the secondary data. The result shows that the outcome of the socialization process of Universitas Pelita Harapan’s vision value hasn’t meet the overall expectation. The reason is because there are still too much concern on the theoritical aspects and not enough in the application values.
