Abstract

Manusia sebagai makhluk sosial membutuhkan manusia lain untuk bertahan hidup. Hubungan yang dibentuk oleh manusia pasti mengalami peningkatan dan penurunan tingkat keintiman, termasuk manusia yang memiliki kondisi fisik ketulian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi yang terjadi dalam komunikasi interpersonal antara penyandang tuna rungu dengan non tuna rungu, serta mengetahui proses peningkatan tahapan pengembangan hubungan interpersonal yang terjadi antara penyandang tuna rungu dengan non tuna rungu. Objek dari penelitian ini merupakan hubungan romantis antara penyandang tuna rungu dengan non tuna rungu, dengan informan bernama Jonathan yang merupakan seorang penyandang tuna rungu dengan pasangannya Delvia yang merupakan non tuna rungu. Penelitian ini didasari oleh Teori Penetrasi Sosial yang lalu dikaitkan dengan Elevator Model of Relational Development. Dari model tersebut dapat dilihat tahapan peningkatan dan penurunan tingkat keintiman suatu hubungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan merupakan indepth interview dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hubungan yang dilalui pada pasangan Jonathan dan Delvia melewati tahapan – tahapan yang sesuai dengan model penelitian. Terdapat peningkatan dan penurunan keintiman pada pasangan, yang pada akhirnya membuat pasangan ini berada pada tingkat paling atas dari tahapan pengembangan hubungan. / Human as a social beings need another human being to survive . The relation that formed by human beings must be increased and the decreasing level of intimacy , including human beings having the physical condition of deafness.The purpose of this research is to find the interaction that occurs in interpersonal communication between people with hearing impaired and the non hearing impaired one, and discover the process of increasing stages of relational development that occur between people with hearing impaired with the non hearing impaired. The object of the research is a romantic relationship between the hearing impaired people with non hearing impaired. The informants name is Jonathan, a person with hearing impaired and his partner Delvia, non hearing impaired. This research was based on Social Penetration Theory which later on will be associated with Elevator Model of Relational Development. From the model, we can see the phases of the improvement and the decreasing level of intimacy a relationship. This research using case study methods with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interview and observation. The result of this research showed that the progress of relationships between Jonathan and Delvia is going through several stages in accordance with Elevator Model of Relational Development. There are escalating processes and degrading processes through out the relationships, which end at the top stages of Elevator Model of Relational Development.
