Abstract

It’s started with phenomenon stated that Indonesian students have decreasing in mathematics, science and reading ability compared with other countries. Another phenomenon states that Science is categorized as deficient based on UN result in 2017 to 2019 compared with other subjects. Therefore, the goals of this research are to analyze the difference of learning motivation and learning achievement before and after implemented inquiry learning and PBL model. And to decide which learning model is more effective improving learning motivation and achievement. The method used is experiment with quantitative approach. Before the learning model is implemented, the students to the pretest, so that the two learning groups are balance. Then, data is analyzed using F-test and t-test. The respondents are 36 students grade VIII of SMPK Tunas Bangsa Greenville. The result is t(cal)>t(table), -0.21>-1.69. It means that there is indifference of motivation before and after inquiry implementation. But, there is difference in achievement, t(cal)>t(table), -4.50<-1.69.Then, PBL toward motivation and achievement. There is indifference of motivation before and after PBL implemented, but for learning achievement there is difference t(cal)>t(table),-0.79>-1.69 and t t(cal)>t(table), -8.09 < -1.69. In this research, inquiry is good as PBL to improve students’ learning achievement. / Diawali dengan fenomena yang dialami oleh siswa Indonesia adalah penurunan kemampuan matematika, sains dan membaca dibandingkan dengan negara lain. Fenomena selanjutnya adalah hasil UN IPA mendapatkan kategori kurang pada tahun 2017 hingga 2019. Maka, tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis perbedaan motivasi dan prestasi belajar siswa setelah diajar dengan model pembelajaran Inquiry dan PBL. Serta ditentukan model pembelajaran mana yang lebih efektif. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Proses awal penelitian ini adalah dilakukan pretest untuk motivasi dan prestasi belajar sebelum implementasi model pembelajaran, maka dinyatakan dua grup belajar ini seimbang. Kemudian dianalisis dengan uji homogenitas dan uji beda mean. Responden penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas VIII SMPK Tunas Bangsa Greenville. Hasil penelitian impelentasi model pembelajaran Inquiry menyatakan t(hitung)>t(tabel), -0.21>-1.69. Artinya tidak ada perbedaan motivasi antara sebelum dan sesudah mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran Inquiry. Sedangkan, prestasi menunjukkan bahwa t(hitung)< t(tabel), -4.50<-1.69. Hal ini menyatakan bahwa ada perbedaan prestasi sebelum dan sesudah implementasi model pembelajaran Inquiry. PBL terhadap motitvasi dan prestasi. Untuk motivasi tidak ada perbedaan sedangkan untuk prestasi ada perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah digunakan PBL. t(hitung)>t(tabel), -0.79>-1.69 dan t(hitung)>t(tabel), -8.09<1.69. Dalam penelitian ini tidak dapat dinyatakan inquiry lebih efektif daripada PBL namun baik untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa.
