Abstract

Microwave is attenuated when passing through a medium, which in this experiment is ultra high temperature (UHT) cow milk. Milks contains 87,25% of water. If quality of the milk changes its contain of water, then experiment on absorbtion of microwave can be used. This experiment uses x-band frequencies (8 - 1 2 GHz) generated by tuneable Gunn oscillator. The generated microwave passing through the milk and its transmission is detected. The container used in this experiment is a plastic container. This study discusses the attenuation characteristics of microwave on x-band frequencies propagating through the milk based on a function of time. The results show that the UHT cow milk has around 2 dB differences on the extreme condition. This work also developed an automatic data acquisition system using microcontroller and voltage amplifier, the attenuation can be measured automatically, the result can be shown on LCD screen or saved in the SD card.
