Abstract

Film merupakan medium komunikasi yang dapat menggambarkan realitas sosial di masyarakat dan alat penyampai pesan yang efektif. Di mana film menyampaikan pesan lewat audio visual yang dapat diserap lebih cepat oleh penontonnya. Film Dangal adalah salah satu film Bollywood yang terbaik dan terlaris di tahun 2016. Film Dangal mengangkat kisah nyata dari atlet gulat di India yang berjuang untuk dapat membanggakan nama India di dunia. Adanya perlawanan terhadap nilai-nilai perempuan dalam masyarakat India, tradisi, dan pemerintah membuat nilai-nilai nasionalisme terlihat pada film ini. Pendekatan dalam penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan semiotika Roland Barthes sebagai pisau analisis. Peneliti mengumpulkan data primer dengan mendokumentasikan scene, dialog, dan adegan dari film Dangal. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai nasionalisme direpresentasikan pada komunikasi verbal dan non-verbal dalam scene, dialog, karakter atlet gulat, perjuangan melawan diskriminasi gender, pemerintah yang korupsi, serta tradisi dan budaya India. Peneliti menemukan adanya kesamaan nilai-nilai atau jiwa nasionalisme dengan karakter yang dimiliki para olahragawan. Perilaku para pegulat dalam film ini dihasilkan dari adanya interaksi simbolik yang terjadi lewat komunikasi dan menghasilkan makna/Film Dangal is one of the best and best-selling Bollywood films in 2016. Film is a communication medium that can portray social realities in society and an effective messenger tool. Where is films convey the messages through audio visuals that can be easily understood by its audience. Dangal film tells the true story of wrestling athletes in India who strive to make their country proud and to become famous in the eyes of the world. The clash against culture, tradition, and government makes the values of nationalism visible in the characters in this film. The research methodology of this film is used qualitative and Roland Barthes' semiotics as the analysis tool. Researchers collected primary data by documenting scenes, dialogues, and scenes from Dangal's film. The results of this study indicate that the values of nationalism are represented in verbal and non-verbal communication in scenes, dialogues, the character of wrestling athletes, the struggle against gender discrimination, corrupt government, and India traditions and culture. Researchers found the similarity of values or the spirit of nationalism with the characters possessed by sports athletes. The behavior of the wrestlers in this film results from symbolic interactions that occur through communication and produce meaning.
