Abstract

Maskulinitas adalah hal yang sangat melekat dengan gender pria. Dimana maskulinitas dibentuk melalui lingkungan sosial dan pengaruh budaya. Maskulinitas bukan hal yang sudah ada sejak lahir atau merupakan sifat alamiah, namun terbentuk seiring berjalannya waktu. Maskulinitas sudah sejak lama digambarkan melalui gender pria mulai dari segi emosional maupun penampilan. Namun pada film “Mulan” (2020) sifat maskulinitas ini ditonjolkan oleh gender perempuan, dimana peran dilakoni oleh seorang pemeran utama perempuan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggambaran maskulinitas perempuan melalui tokoh utama perempuan di film “Mulan” yaitu Hua Mulan. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah tanda konotasi, denotasi dan mitos dari film “Mulan” dan Subjeknya adalah sang pemeran utama yaitu Hua Mulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Penulis akan memilih adegan – adegan mana yang menonjolkan sisi maskulinitas perempuan, kemudian menjabarkan makna yang ada secara denotasi, konotasi dan mitos ke dalam table kemudian menganalisanya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah maskulinitas direpresentasikan secara jelas oleh pemeran utama perempuan di film Mulan (2020) ini. Dimana maskulinitas tergambarkan paling menonjol dari segi fungsional. / Masculinity is very inherent in male gender. Where masculinity is formed through social environment and cultural influences. Masculinity is not something that comes from birth or is a natural trait, but is formed over time. Masculinity has long been depicted through male gender from an emotional and appearance perspective. However, in the film “Mulan” (2020) the character of this masculinity is emphasized by the female gender, where the role is played by a female lead. This study is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to describe the depiction of female masculinity through the main female character in the film "Mulan", namely Hua Mulan. The object of this research is the connotation sign, denotation and myth of the movie "Mulan" and the subject is the main character, Hua Mulan. This study uses Roland Barthes' Semiotic Theory. The author will choose which scenes highlight the masculinity of women, then describe the existing meanings in denotation, connotation and myth into a table and then analyze them. The result of this study is that masculinity is clearly represented by the female lead in the film Mulan (2020). Where masculinity is described in terms of functional.
