Abstract

Dalam proyek Tugas Akhir ini. dilakukan analisis jaringan wi-fi yang digunakan di Universitas Pelita Harapan yang menggunakan sistem Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions. Akses internet menggunakan jaringan wi-fi yang disediakan oleh UPH masih belum maksimal seperti contohnya, kecepatannya sangat lambat dan access points yang digunakan belum menjangkau seluruh area di UPH. Analisis ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas jaringan wi-fi seperti kecepatan akses internet yang digunakan di Universitas Pelita Harapan, dan menambah aksesibilitas jaringan wi-fi. Analisis jaringan dilakukan dengan berbagai macam parameter. Sebagai bahan analisis pokok yaitu Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions itu sendiri. Analisis jaringan diamati dari sisi kecepatan, pemilahan penempatan access point, dan pembuatan VLAN pool.Untuk membantu proses analisis keefektifan jaringan wi-fi. sistem didukung oleh program WinBox untuk mengamati kecepatan jaringan baik dari sisi transmiting (tx) atau receiving (rx) pada VLAN pool yang ada. Selain itu, dilakukan juga analisis terhadap topologi jaringan wi-fi yang digunakan. serta pengawasan access point yang digunakan pada jaringan wi-fi dengan menggunakan sistem Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions. Analisis ini hertujuan untuk menjadikan jaringan nirkabel di Universitas Pelita Harapan menjadi lebih baik bagi seluruh staf dan mahasiswa. Dari sejumlah pengujian yang dilakukan, dapat dikatakan bahwa topologi yang digunakan sebelumnya (topologi dengan bridging mode tunneling), menimbulkan beberapa masalah seperti bottleneck pada topologi jaringan. Dengan demikian dilakukan perubahan topologi jaringan wi-fi (dari bridging mode tunneling menjadi local forwarding) pada semua gedung di Universitas Pelita Harapan sehingga kenaikan kecepatan akses meningkat hingga 38.51% pada Tx dan 30.84% pada Rx dari sebelumnya. / In this final project, an analysis of wi-fi network used in Universitas Pelita Harapan is performed using Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions. Network analysis performed with several parameters. Internet access using the wi-fi network provided by UPH is not optimized, for example the speed is very slow and the access points used have not covered all areas in the UPH. This analysis is conducted to improve the quality of wi-fi networks such as internet access speed of University of Pelita Harapan and increase the accessibility of the wi-fi networks. The main application used is the Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions itself. Analysis of network observed is in terms such as speed, placements of access point and VLAN pool. To assist the process of analyzing the effectiveness of the wi-fi network, the system is supported by a program named WinBox to observe the network speed in both transmiting (tx) od receiving (rx) on the existing VLAN pools. Moreover analysis was alsi performed on the network using the Motorola WiNG 5 Solutions system. This analysis intends to make the wireless network provided by Universitas Pelita Harapan better for both staffs and the students. From several tests performed, it can be said that the previous topology (using tunneling bridging system)poses some problems such as bottleneck in the network topology. Thus change of the wi-fi network topology was made (from tunneling bridging mode into local forwarding bridging mode) on all buildings at the University of Pelita Harapan increase the access speed up to 38.51% (Tx) and 30.84% (Rx) than before.
