Abstract
WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) as a free
license wireless network technology which enable data transmition up to 70 Mbps
in the scope of 50 km radius, is expected to overcome the Internet's distribution
problem in Indonesia. The implementation of WiMAX in Indonesia, include the
technical analysis, economics, its future and role in the development of
telecommunication will be discussed briefly in this thesis. The discussion is
strictly based on regulation and current telecommunication's condition in
Indonesia.
The analysis shows that WiMAX in Indonesia could work in the range of
2300-2390 MHz, divided into 6 canals of 15 MHz, will be operated using TDD
method. From the economical point of view, the implementation of Wimax in
Indonesia will give a positive prediction, as well as the positive economic for the
Jakarta and Surabaya's scenarios. Furthermore, WiMAX will contribute to the
development of the telecommunication in Indonesia, synergy with the established
3G and WiFI networking, hence lead to benefit's optimization for the community. / WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) adalah
teknologi jaringan nirkabel yang mempunyai kemampuan mengantarkan data
hingga kecepatan 70 Mbps dan jarak jangkau hingga 50 km, diharapkan dapat
mengatasi keterbatasan pemerataan jaringan Internet di Indonesia. Dalam tesis
akan dibahas implementasi WiMAX di Indonesia, meliputi analisa teknis,
ekonomis, masa depan WiMAX dan peranannnya dalam pembangunan
telekomunikasi di Indonesia. Pembahasan tersebut akan didasarkan pada regulasi
yang berlaku dan kondisi pertelekomunikasian di Indonesia.
Dan hasil dari tesis dapat disimpulkan WiMAX di Indonesia akan
beroperasi di frekuensi 2300-2390 MHz yang dibagi menjadi 6 kanal selebar 15
MHz dan beroperasi dengan metode TDD. Untuk analisa ekonomi, implementasi
WiMAX memberikan proyeksi hasil yang positif untuk diimplementasikan di
Indonesia, ditunjukkan dengan dengan nilai ekonomis yang positif pada skenario
implementasi di Jakarta dan Surabaya. WiMAX akan memberikan kontribusi pada
pembangunan telekomunikasi di Indonesia, berdampingan dengan jaringan 3G
dan WiFI yang sudah ada, sehingga memberikan manfaat sebesar-besarnya
kepada masyarakat.
